Volume 6 Articles
We all have a perspective, and it shapes our world. Our perspective is not simply our passive (or passing) observation of things but our daily, active engagement with reality. It is influenced by the internal—our beliefs and experiences—and the external— the environment in which we find ourselves. Thus, our perspectives are continually reshaped and renegotiated.

A selection of original essays explores perspective through practices, asking how inhabitations of architectural and urban spaces influence the built environment and vice versa. Architecturally, we direct our attention to projects showcasing the relationship between the places we perceive and the spaces that exist and designing environments sensitive to their emotional, behavioral, symbolic, and perceptual characteristics. Approaching the issue of perspective from both sides of spatial production, we broaden considerations of architectural perspective, highlighting the need for understanding the diverse ways architecture is inhabited, made, and remade for and by its inhabitants. In understanding this breadth, we gain a deeper appreciation for the places, practices, and people we design for.
